Small Striped Blind

Yesterday I made this small Roman Blind (40cmx93cm), interlined with pom-pom trimming along the hem and cascading pleats.

The fabric is Jane Churchill Courbet Stripe (£32/metre).

Today I took Hannah Brennan Interiors into the social media world!
Or follow me @HBInteriors

Ta xx

p.s. here is a pretty picture to stimulate you to get organised.

Last night I spent time trying to restore some order to the workroom.
Lots more needs doing but I think it's looking quite homely!

I'd better get to work then :) xx

5 Cheer Up Blogs

Everybody has down days, some people go to the gym to feel better, some eat lots of sugary foods and some spend time with their loved ones. For me there is nothing better than to browse through pretty blogs for inspiration for a happy day. Here are some of my favourites:

This Blog features Melanie's favourite things and links to other pretty blogs on subjects like fashion, interior design, crafts and shopping.

Hey Look is an Events Styling Blog; it features inspirational colour schemes, a sneak peek at other people's gorgeous events (weddings, birthdays etc.) and craft tutorials.

This is actually the first big blog I came across, and I still love it. The writer (Jordan Ferney) lives in Paris with her husband and 2 boys, and features photos and design tutorials from her life there. I have to say it does make me extremely jealous, but it's great for getting ideas.

Joanna Goddard describes her blog to be about 'Fashion, Design, Photography, Bikes & The People I Love'. I love to open this page in the morning when I wake up, it really puts me in the mood to get creative and make an effort to achieve things.

Elsie Larson, hipster extraordinare. She has a fantastic collection of vintage cameras, and features pretty outfits, recipes, decor and craft projects. Oh, and she runs a vintage boutique called Red Velvet. I'm Jelly.

London Blinds

Live Update
This week i'm on Victoria Hammond's Advanced Curtain Making and Soft Furnishings course (it's excellent, if you ever wanted to learn about hand stitched curtains). Today we finished off our London Blinds, here they are before being dressed.

Easter Plans

As always, i'm planning way ahead! Deflated after the Christmas period and far too soon for summer plans i'm looking at the events in between. Namely the mother of all things chocolatey, EASTER.
Weather and friends-returning-from-university permitting, this is the essence of what I want to create for Easter Saturday:

1. Individual Wicker Baskets for egg collecting.
2. Berry Smoothies, to keep everyone's eyes fresh and hunt-ready.
3. Well, I wont be baking this, but look at the rainbow cake!
4. 'Tea Dress/ Chinos&Shirt' dress code, we aren't animals.
5. BUNTING. The wondrous stuff that turns anywhere charming.
6. Easter Eggs. Ordinarily the Easter Bunny hides these in quite obvious places, but we're in our twenties now, so expect tree climbing and clues.
7. Mason Jar Tealights. A staple of any event, i'm planning to hang them with pastel ribbons around the garden.
8. Easter Bunny Cupcakes. 'Nuff said.

Bathroom Blind

My first Roman Blind is up and looking great (if i do say so myself).
No visible stitching anywhere and made to fit the window exactly.
Underneath the lining i've used herringbone and slipstitches to make sure the joins
are strong and long lasting, whilst being completely hidden.

Exciting News

I haven't posted anything in over a month now which is shameful, but the exciting news is actually the reason behind it! I've been busy (with a lot of help from family) transforming my old bedroom into a workroom for curtain making. The table had to be made to fit and covered in specialist materials, and its just about finished, photo's to be posted as soon as the rest of the room is done.

Which brings me to the actual news: this year Hannah Brennan Interiors will be up and running, taking orders for hand-stitched bespoke curtains and blinds. The business cards are on their way to me and i'm just measuring up a few windows at home (what good would it do being a curtain maker if i didn't get to treat my own windows!). There's a new page on this blog ready for photos of projects to be posted, so watch this space!

p.s. here's a picture of a friend (Charlotte) celebrating my birthday last month all the way from Australia!
